Tuvalu Language Week 2022

Episode six of AUT’s 2022 Pacific Language Week Video series – AUT Focus on Sustainability – went live this week.

Narrated in Tuvaluan (with English subtitles) to acknowledge Tuvalu Language Week being celebrated in Aotearoa from 25 September to 1 October, the animated video highlights the importance of minimising waste in the Pacific.

It is influenced by research by Waste minimisation expert Dr Jeff Seadon, Senior Lecturer in the AUT School of Future Environments. Dr Seadon is the lead author of the SIDS Waste Management Outlook which is targeted at decision-makers at national and local government levels and other key stakeholders in the waste sector.

The SIDS Waste Management Outlook led to the European Union investing more than NZD$830m to avoid marine litter and sustainably manage hazardous chemicals and waste in 33 Small Island Developing States.
