Hospitality professor heads top journal
PROFESSOR PETER KIM

One of the world’s top journals in the field of hospitality and tourism has a new executive editor – AUT's Professor Peter Kim.

Professor Kim says he is “deeply humbled and honoured” to now lead the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research (JHTR) along with his colleagues and co-executive editors Professor Li Miao of Oklahoma State University in the United Sates and Professor Jean-Pierre Van der Rest of Leiden University in the Netherlands.

Dr Warren Goodsir, Head of School for AUT’s School of Hospitality and Tourism, says the JHTR has a long history of being a leading journal within tourism and hospitality research.

Listed in the Social Sciences Citation Index for over 10 years, JHTR is a preferred publication for research authors from more than 82 different countries.

“We are very proud of Professor Peter Kim’s academic achievement and his reputation as a global leader in hospitality and tourism research,” says Dr Warren Goodsir.

"I am confident that Peter’s appointment will bring valuable insight and scholarship that continues to advance research and knowledge in our field.”

Professor Kim says JHTR is special to him as he published his first research paper from his Master’s thesis in it.

“As an executive editor I am now committed to building on the journal’s extant foundation and further advancing its mission to make significant and timely contributions to and set the agenda for hospitality and tourism theory, practice, and education.

"I am thankful to AUT’s School of Hospitality and Tourism and Faculty of Culture and Society for the institutional support for this prestigious appointment - in which I will be proudly representing AUT to the global academic community.”

Professor Kim’s five-year term as an executive editor will end at the end of 2025.
