 Five questions: Professor Frances Joseph

Professor Frances Joseph was always interested in understanding how things are made from a young age and had a dream to be an artist.

She was exposed to scientific, artistic and poetic frameworks through her family that included engineers, poets and designers and went on to attend art school, specialising in sculpture.

We asked Frances five questions ahead of her Inaugural Professorial Address - she discussed a current collaborative project titled phenomenal dress, her advice for new or aspiring researchers and her hopes for her area.

“The most important thing for anyone involved in research is that it has to be something you have curiosity or passion about. You’ve got to have something really deep as a connection to your field beyond just getting a degree,” she said.
