For homestay providers (Coronavirus situation)

Q & A - For homestay providers

I am a homestay landlord expecting a student from the Wuhan region. After looking at the Ministry of Health & Education sites, I am unclear whether I should still offer them accommodation?

The New Zealand government has placed temporary entry restrictions into New Zealand on all foreign nationals travelling from, or transiting through, mainland China. This is in currently in place for 14 days and students will not be able to travel to New Zealand.

The university is open and operating normally, while taking a precautionary approach. The university is being guided by the Ministries of Health and Education and following any protocols they advise. AUT is asking students who have travelled from China to stay off campus for 14 days from the date they arrived in New Zealand.

AUT students who are booked into our on-campus student accommodation will be checked-in and if required to self-isolate will do so at our student accommodation facilities.  While AUT cannot provide advice whether you continue homestay arrangements, we would appreciate you referring any AUT student who needs assistance to the university. They can do this via our online form.
