Brave Hearts comes to North Campus
"Brave Hearts - The New Zealand Cardiac Story" is a free interactive exhibition open to AUT students, staff and the public. Profiling pioneering Kiwi heart clinicians and the bravery of their patients, the pop-up has now landed at North Campus and will be open daily from 9am – 3pm Monday - Friday, ending on Wednesday 30 May.
Housed in two 40-foot shipping containers, Brave Hearts explains how the heart works, how heart disease is investigated, and the largely untold story of New Zealand's leading role in the evolution of heart surgery. Developed by the Auckland Medical Museum Trust with support from AUT, the exhibition debuted at MOTAT late last year and is on a regional tour of New Zealand.
Designed to educate and inspire people in the science of heart disease, the exhibition celebrates the innovation, creativity, and success of New Zealand medical pioneers who repaired the hearts of new-borns, children, and adults. Historical objects and the remarkable stories associated with them, including the first heart lung bypass machine at Green Lane Hospital, as well as interactive displays, will be on show.
Brave Hearts at AUT’s North Campusis open Monday-Friday from 9am – 3pm, ending on Wednesday 30 May. The exhibition can be found at Car Park 3, near the Sport and Fitness Centre.
