Award-winning performances in Showcase 2009
AUT Bachelor of Dance students will perform award-winning works at Showcase 2009

Showcase '09 will see AUT’s third-year Bachelor of Dance students performing the award-winning 'Dancing with Difference' which took first prize at this year's 'Viva Eclectika' competition.

Showcase ‘09 is a celebration of the diversity, innovation and inspiration that AUT University Bachelor of Dance students represent. Third-year students bring their choreography to the stage, performed alongside new works for AUT Dance Company composed by choreographers and researchers Linda Ashley, Philippa Pidgeon and Natalie Dowd.

Senior lecturer Linda Ashley says the third-year student dancers represent a wide range of dance styles that are part of the Bachelor of Dance Degree at AUT. The range is culturally diverse and includes hip hop, contemporary, sasa, ballet amongst other styles.

"This year's student works represent three years’ study of dance and choreography and each work is quite personal to each student – be prepared to be surprised."

Several graduates of the AUT University Bachelor of Dance over the past ten plus years have gone on to exciting careers in dance choreography, research, teaching, performing and working with global, national and local community dance groups.
