AUT ready to open its doors to the world

Prospective students across the globe will be encouraged to Find Their Greatness at AUT in 2023 with the launch today of the university’s biggest-ever international recruitment campaign.

For the first time since 2019, international students will be encouraged to study onshore at New Zealand’s leading modern university through a multimedia campaign that will reach into 12 countries across five key regions.

The campaign launch coincides with the opening of the borders to international students, with visa processing for all student visa categories commencing today.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Damon Salesa says the campaign will signal to the world AUT is open for business and is ready to again welcome international students back to the university whānau.

“Our international students have always been an incredibly valued and important part of the AUT community, and we look forward to welcoming them back to Auckland and to our campuses,” the Vice-Chancellor says.

"Beyond AUT, they also play a significant role in enhancing the cultural life of Auckland and in supporting the city’s economy.”

The new campaign extends AUT’s successful Find Your Greatness initiative – through which AUT graduates tell their own story of how their AUT experience inspired them and shaped their lives and futures – to five key international regions: Europe and the Americas, North Asia, Southeast Asia and South Asia.

Pro Vice-Chancellor International, Professor Guy Littlefair, says a key focus on the new campaign will be to promote AUT LIVE International, an international version of the AUT LIVE open day which will be held across the five regions later this year.

“We are delighted to announce the first-ever AUT LIVE International event, which will give prospective students and their families insight into AUT programme information, what life is like on campus, and opportunities available to gain valuable work experience,” Guy says.

Director AUT International, Meredith Smart, says the campaign showcases Auckland as the perfect study destination.

“AUT is New Zealand’s most welcoming and diverse university situated in the heart of one of the world’s most dynamic and liveable cities,” Meredith says.

“We are beyond excited to open our doors once again to our international students and welcome them back. We know what an incredible place Auckland is to live, study and play – now it is time for the world to experience it once again.”

AUT has also committed to support international students who are studying full-time online in Semester 2, 2022 to transition to on-campus study if they can arrive in New Zealand during the semester.
