The incorporation of Māori language, terminology and tikanga significantly enhances job satisfaction and supports diversity.
Research by AUT’s New Zealand Work Research Institute and Te Ipukarea, the National Maori Language Institute for Te Taura Whiri i te reo Māori (the Māori Language Commission) has found it enhances business and fosters both individual and organisational wellness.
The research surveyed 1,100 employees and completed 14 enterprise case studies to identify how te reo Māori is being used now in organisations and attitudes towards it.
Te Taura Whiri i te reo Māori aims to have a million New Zealanders speaking basic te reo by 2040.
